South Korean prosecutors are filing charges against seven Volkswagen employees following an investigation into the German carmaker’s emissions scandal, South Korean media reported on Wednesday, citing the district attorney’s office in Seoul.
According to South Korean broadcasters, former and current senior executives at Volkswagen are among the seven being charged with breaching air pollution laws and other provisions.
During the course of their investigations, South Korean authorities had accused Volkswagen of doctoring documents on emissions data and noise tests.
Volkswagen admitted in September 2015 that it had equipped around 11 million vehicles worldwide with so-called defeat devices that manipulated the results of emissions tests.
Report says the sale of nearly all Volkswagen models in South Korea ended in August, and authorities had ordered the carmaker to recall several of its models after conducting their own emissions tests.
